Why you became involved in NATYCAA: When I first became a Dean/AD, I had the opportunity to get to know Warren Hansen at Cuesta College. He became a mentor to me and through his involvement in NATYCAA, he suggested I start attending the NATYCAA/NACDA Conventions as professional development. The rest is history.
Favorite part about being in NATYCAA: The learning opportunities and the networking that leads to development of positive professional relationships that last a lifetime.

Biggest challenge to working in athletics: The number of hours required to do a good job.
Greatest accomplishment to date: U.S. Olympic Coach in Track and Field at the 1996 Olympics and NCAA Regional Coach of the Year-2004.
Most important skill you have developed in your career: The ability to get things done, organization and dedication to attain goals. Best advice you were ever given: Measure each day by what you accomplish and people first, paperwork second.
Most influential person in your career: There have been many: Dr. Bill Colvin-CSU Chico, Dr. Betty Atwater-University of Arizona, Dr. Mary Roby-University of Arizona, Warren Hansen-Cuesta College and Dr. Bruce Werner-American River College.
Where you see yourself in 10 years: Retired
Advice for those looking to get into athletics administration: Get your degrees in physical education and coach/teach before getting into administration and seek out those who excel in the field to learn from.

Dream Job: I'm in it.
Hidden Talent: I'm a multiple All-American in Masters Track and Field
One item you cannot live without: My laptop.
Who would you choose to switch places with for a day: Jim Livengood-AD at the University of Arizona. I think that would be a great educational experience.
If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would you go: Costa Rica. I don't get off much, but I would really like to explore Central and South America.
If you could attend one sporting event this year, it would be: Arizona vs ASU football game Four people you would like to have dinner with: President Bush, Myles Brand, Mary Roby and Jim Livengood.

Place to eat: Cattlemens in Dixon, CA
Flavor of ice cream: Rainbow Sherbert
Sports memory: Marching in Opening Ceremonies at the 1996 Olympics. A close second being, finishing as runner-up at the 1977 NCAA championships in the javelin with a big personal record.
Movie I've seen this year: 3:10 to Yuma

Childhood memory: At eight years old, my father telling me that he thought he was dying and that I'd have to be the man of the family to my five brothers and sisters.
